Well, who doesn’t know Jim Carrey! A Canadian-American actor, comedian, impressionist, screenwriter, and producer. He is well known for his energetic roles in splendid movies. He is a man who puts his whole energy when acting. He is not someone who does anything half minded, the least when it comes to art.

Jim Carrey has for the past six years got himself involved in the world of art. Creating and working copiously such that if anyone walks into his house will mistake it to be an art museum. A few weekends back he set up a solo art exhibition show “Sunshower” at the Signature Gallery Group’s Las Vegas gallery to exhibit all the wonderful outcomes of his hard work.

Famous Comedian Jim Carrey in his Art Studio

In a recent interview with the famous W magazine, he was quoted as saying “There’s not a day that goes by that I’m not covered in paint or something from doing sculptures.” He also said, “It’s all about that for me now—being completely involved, heart, mind, and soul. Sometimes its art, sometimes it’s performance, and sometimes it’s just talking to someone.”

It seems that more than Jim doing creative art, it looks as thou art happened to him. He talks very mesmerizing about art and he thinks that making art is so general and it is not really a choice. According to him “I’m being painted and I’m being expressed and I’m being created, and there’s little me involved.”

Carrey in his Art Studio

Jim Carrey had kept his interest in art and his artworks completely away from the prying eyes. Apart from the “Nothing to See Here,” a small show at Palm Springs’ Heather James Fine Art in 2011 he had kept mum about his interest in art and the fruits of his labor under wraps. This was until this September when Signature released “I Needed Color,” a six-minute documentary movie showing the comedian at work in his studio. He had in the interview to the W magazine had told that he had released the movie, to actually let his fans know and reveal what he had been to in the past few years with only few acting projects to his credit. He felt he had to let his fans know what he was up to exactly.

Jim obsessed over Painting

In the documentary, he is seen working in the early hours of the day completing his bright, eye-popping canvases, sketching out massive compositions with free, easy brushstrokes, pouring paint directly on the surface of his works, and dramatically scraping layers of color. Most of his works are so huge that he can reach the center either by putting it flat on the ground with his stomach lying flat on it or moving over the top by getting a ladder fixed above the painting to reach it.

The applause and he response from his fans and viewers worldwide was bang on! It has been viewed over five million times all over the world. The art was viciously savaged by the famous Guardian art critic Jonathan Jones. He again made it to the headline this week when in and out of the blue interview to E! News at the New York fashion week he was quoted and saying “There’s no meaning to any of this,” and that he “wanted to find the most meaningless thing that I could come to and join, and here I am.”

With all the focus being on Carrey painting, a gallery’s website in Las Vegas was seen to advertise an exhibition hosting his artworks. According to the site, fans and curators from the world were invited to take part in the opening and were asked to pay a whopping $10,000 per couple. The price also came with cocktails, hors-d’oeuvres, desserts, and live entertainment and the best part -a chance to meet the Hollywood star in person. The entire amount from the opening will be applied to Jim Carrey’s artwork of your choice.

Las Vegas and Art might not sync in for anyone hearing this, but the actor insisted it as he felt it gave him an opportunity to not only showcase his artwork for people who want to spend money but also real people who prefer going to the famous exhibition centers like Gagosian also to witness and celebrate his artwork.

Carrey’s art documentary “I needed colour”

Well not all are lucky to have a peek into his work at his own house. Only a few creative people, athletes and big names of the world like the Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, Lebron James have had the lovely chance of visiting his house to. It is his world. Lebron James also took to twitter to express his appreciation for Carrey’s artwork “I Needed Color.” His painting in the “I Needed Color” series was usually bright and eye popping with central subject being Jesus applying to the spiritual bend. The show “Sunshower,” is all about witnessing and being part of all the beautiful things that bright sun showers bring you. It also transcends with the awareness at that very moment and the part of consciousness that wants to stop in time and own it.

With his artistic pursuits being highly successful, Jim Carrey will soon be seen in what he always does best-acting in a documentary premiering on Netflix, Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond. The documentary talks about the filming of the 1999 movie Man on the Moon, and the actor’s commitment to method acting in his role as the great and famous Comedian Andy Kaufman. Also he has his hands full with a novel collaborated with Dana Vachon that will release later this year or early next year.

Art has always inspired so many people. Likewise Jim Carrey also got into the world of art and is mesmerized with its wonders. He took to art to overcome a painful end to a relationship and preach it to the world as a therapy.
